Inside Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park you’ll discover the source of the Hawaiian Islands’ creation. See Mauna Loa, which erupted in 2023, and peer into Kilauea’s Halema’uma’u Crater, which has remarkably doubled in size since the 2018 eruption. Watch steam clouds rise as groundwater meets hot volcanic rock at the Steam Vents, then walk through the ancient Nahuku Lava Tube, formerly known as Thurston Lava Tube.

Take a leisurely hike around the rim of Akaka Falls, then drive through the historic city of Hilo past famous Banyan Drive and Lili’uokalani Gardens. Finish at beautiful Rainbow Falls, where rainbows magically form in the mist.

A valid government-issued photo ID or passport is required to clear TSA at the Honolulu Airport. The volcano summit sits at elevation and can be cool, windy and rainy, so dress in layers and bring rain protection.

Important Flight Information

To meet aviation security requirements, each guest’s full name, birth date and gender are required when booking. These must exactly match the name and birth date on your government-issued photo ID or passport for airline check-in. All passengers clear TSA at the Honolulu Airport, so please bring a valid passport or government-issued photo ID.

Airlines change their flight schedules frequently and sometimes at the last minute, so please verify your flight status on your own before traveling.

Departure & Return

This tour begins at Honolulu International Airport (HNL), where guests arrive on their own at approximately 5:00 AM. After your interisland flight, roundtrip ground transportation is provided from Hilo Airport for the guided land tour. You’ll return to Oahu by approximately 9:00 PM.

Cancellation Policy

A full refund is provided when the tour is cancelled more than 168 hours (7 days) before the tour departure time. If cancelled within 168 hours of departure, or if a guest no-shows, no refund is provided. Refund requests must be received within 30 days of the tour date.

Any airline fees for name or date changes, and any overage fees, are the responsibility of the guest. Refunds are not provided for tours, activities, flights or venues cancelled due to circumstances outside of our control, such as weather or force majeure.
