See Mauna Loa, which erupted in 2023, and peer into Kilauea’s Halema’uma’u Crater, which has remarkably doubled in size since the 2018 eruption. Watch steam clouds rise as groundwater meets hot volcanic rock at the Steam Vents, then walk through the ancient Nahuku Lava Tube, formerly known as Thurston Lava Tube.
Take a leisurely hike around the rim of Akaka Falls, then drive through the historic city of Hilo past famous Banyan Drive and Lili’uokalani Gardens. Finish at beautiful Rainbow Falls, where rainbows magically form in the mist.
