Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park is an extremely dynamic volcanic area, and eruptions can start and stop with little warning, so molten lava viewing cannot be guaranteed. If an eruption is occurring while we are in the park, we prioritize eruption viewing whenever it is safe and accessible.

Guests should be able to hike on uneven or rocky terrain, and we may encounter cool, wet or muddy conditions. This tour is rated easy to moderate and is suitable for ages 6 and up. Other restrictions may apply.

Morning trips depart from the Kona side of the island, with convenient pickup locations in Kona, Waikoloa, Waikoloa Village and Hilo. The full experience runs approximately 11 to 12 hours round trip, with about 6 hours of round-trip travel time from the Waikoloa resorts.
